What Wax Works for You?

Ever wonder about the differences between the different waxes estheticians use on their clients, and wonder which wax is best for your skin? Well here’s some information to help you understand the different types of waxes that are being used, and what might be best for you.

1. Soft wax– Soft waxes are the ones that you need a cotton strip to remove your hair. These waxes include cream waxes, azulene, and honey. Soft waxes have the most variety available and are used the most often on fine hair such as the under arms, back, legs, and arms. Cream waxes however, are highly recommended for facial waxing as they are great for sensitive skin, and our face tends to break out more due to exfoliating that area. Cream waxes also don’t leave behind a sticky residue. Some great scents we have available are honey, lavender, milk chocolate, gold wax, tea tree and azulene for a more aromatic smell.

2. Hard wax– This type of wax requires no strip, however the technique needed may require a little bit more practice. Generally hard wax is used on coarser hair which means it’s great for the bikini area. Hard wax adheres onto the hair itself and does not pull at your skin! The most popular type of hard wax being used is the blue wax which also contains azulene.

If you ever notice waxing is too painful, or perhaps you are breaking out, do not be afraid to ask your esthetician if they have another wax they could use that may be better for your skin. If you are using it on yourself keep in mind what areas you are waxing and which wax might be the best choice! You can also ask us when you come in to visit and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have!
