Led vs UV lights!

2013-10-7

So many people ask what the difference is between an LED light and a UV light for curing all sorts of gel polishes and artificial nails systems is. Here is a breakdown about each kind of light

UV lights

These lights are obviously more affordable than an LED light, however they have a shorter life span. With a UV light you need to replace the bulbs periodically, these last between 1,000 hours up to 10,000 hours, and replacing bulbs really adds up in price. UV lights take a little longer to cure as well, needing 2 minutes for each step or each coat you are doing which can be hard when you have a client right after another, however if it’s for at home use or you give yourself lots of time with each client than time may not be an issue. The UV light will work with any gel polish as well so there is not need to worry if the light will cure the product you are using.

LED lights

These lights will cost you a little more, however they do have some perks. First of all with an LED light the bulbs do not have to be?replaced because they last the life time of the machine itself. These have a life time of about 50,000 hours, and only needs 30-60 seconds to cure the nail products, making it quicker and more efficient when you run a busy salon/spa. The only downside is that some gel polishes are not formulated to work with an LED light, but a lot of the newer systems are made for the LED light system. In the end you save money because of how long it lasts and how efficient it is.
