Do you ever wonder what the difference between an acrylic brush and a gel brush is? Maybe you already know or have an idea. Here it is anyway:

Gel brushes: Gel brushes are made from nylon bristles called taklon. Taklon is cheap to make, and make a good stiff brush for use with gel. These brushes can not be used for acrylic because taklon can not withstand exposure to acetone which is used when cleaning acrylic off brushes, they will only become damaged and unable to be used! Instead gel brushes are wiped with alcohol since gel will not harden unless cured with a light. With that being said always keep your gel brushes away from your curing light! Otherwise you will then ruin the brush once gel is cured onto it!

Acrylic brushes: These brushes are made from animal hairs, either from sable which is a forest dwelling mammal or from sable which belongs to the weasel family. These bristles or hairs can withstand the exposure to acetone.

Now you know the difference and also can understand why the prices of gel brushes and acrylic brushes are quite different.
